How would you describe the people and culture of this destination? Any interesting cultural lessons? My perspective was enhanced with the vibrant atmosphere and welcoming environment the locals in Mexico portrayed.
What is something people would be surprised to learn about this destination? The area was underdeveloped until 1979 when archeologists began working at the site of Chacchoben. Since the 80's the Costa Maya port has become a natural resource for the cruising industry. Hence providing a doorway to an experience most likely missed on a land package.

- Wear a bathing suit underneath your clothes on Scarlet Night.
- Bring a good pair of running shoes for the track on deck 16.
- Make sure your cabin has a hammock on the balcony.
- Accept any secret invitations. But keep them a secret...forever!
- The wine pairing works best with the food experience at Test Kitchen.

Additional thoughts and insights? I especially love the value Virgin provided. This was the only voyage I have found it included five-star, six-course fine dining.
